Excellent thought for this year: have been following the violence in Mali, for instance, which is (in part) targeted against music. There's a part of me that finds it good that the bad guys find music so terrifying; it has the power to stir people. But it's never good to see violence perpetrated on ayone for what they love - be it religion, music, or tribe.
